Lady Gaga Says 'American Horror Story' Role Made Her Feel Alive and 'Like Herself'

"Lady Gaga is so brilliant in AHS Season 5 that yesterday I officially asked her to join Season 6. Say yes @ladygaga!" Murphy wrote.

While FX has not officially announced a sixth season of the horror anthology co-created by Murphy and Brad Falchuk, the series is the cable network's highest-rated series.

Season five kicks off Wednesday and marks the franchise's first year without leading lady Jessica Lange. Gaga makes her acting debut in American Horror Story: Hotel, which as like every other season marks a complete reset of the story with the largely returning cast — including Sarah PaulsonEvan PetersKathy Bates and more — all playing new characters.

It's unclear if Lange will be back to rejoin the franchise at any point in the future.
