'Hamilton' To Be Filmed? Creator Lin-Manuel Miranda Hopes So
Lin-Manuel Miranda's Broadway hit Hamilton was the hottest ticket in town more or less the moment it opened -- but now, even those at the bottom of the waiting list will be able to see the hip-hop musical.
During a talk at the New Yorker Festival over the weekend, Miranda told the crowd that Hamilton would definitely be filmed with its current cast. Though the format remains undecided, Miranda says, "You-couldn't-make-it-up filmmakers have been coming to the show," adding that he's "talked to producers about filming this cast before this cast moves on."
He also talked about a Hamilton mixtape that he announced late last week, telling the audience that it features a rap battle about slavery. "It was enormously cathartic to write because you write about these men who wrote great things but also had this other legacy lived within the system that was horrible and abusive," he said. "It just brought the show to a screeching halt." The mixtape is due early next year.

Update: As exciting as this news is, Miranda sent some clarifying tweets Monday morning.
