'Scream Queens' Recap: Is Ariana Grande's Character Really Dead?!
"Aren't we all running from the chainsaws of our past?"
So...is Ariana Grande dead or what?
Tuesday night's Scream Queens episode grappled with seemingly every question under the sun, from "Who is the Red Devil?" to "How much longer is Lea Michele going to agree to wear that neck brace?" Answer to that last part: not that much. She ditched it via a Clueless-esque makeover (enviable closet included) halfway through the episode.
This show quickly goes from OMG moment to a did-they-really-just-say-that quip every few seconds. Below, we break down just a few of the buzziest moments from last night's episode.
1. Ariana Grande may not be dead.
Grande's Chanel #2 appeared to be killed last week, but last night, it looks she is still a very active social media user -- even if no one is clear exactly how that is happening.
2. Chanel #2 (and everyone else) was hooking up with Chanel's boyfriend Chad.
I believe it was the wise Gretchen Weiners who said, "Ex-boyfriends are like off limits to friends. That's just like, the rules of feminism." Motive?
3. When it doubt, add Backstreet Boys
When Chad and his crew of dumb bros went out looking for the killer (smart), the show knew the only way to up the tension: Soundtrack the whole drawn-out street fight with a little "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)." We're not complaining.
4. Who Done It?
Scream Queens may be over-the-top, but there's a central unfolding mystery at the center. Not only are fans wondering who exactly the Red Devil killer is (the latest suspect is possibly Dean Munch), but more and more questions are arising about the mysterious girl who died 20 years ago after giving birth to a baby in the sorority house.
5. Lea Michele makeover
So, that super buzzy neck brace Michele was donning in all the promo pictures didn't last long. Chanel takes pity on Hester -- hoping to re-brand the sorority's image a bit in the process -- and now Michele looks like the glamorous TV star she is. Balance has been restored.
