Watch Anna Kendrick Announce Dubsmash Contest to Win Walk-On Role in 'Pitch Perfect 3'
Pitch Perfect fans can use their lip-syncing skills to win a walk-on role in the upcoming third film in the hit a cappella franchise.
Participants can go to lip-syncing app Dubsmash, a Hollywood favorite, and select from several Pitch Perfect 2 sound bites. They can then submit 10-second videos of themselves lip-syncing to their favorite Pitch Perfect 2 spoken line or song and upload the clips to Vine, Instagram or Twitter and tag #PitchSmash. Submissions have to be in by Sept. 17 with the winner set to be announced on Good Morning America on Tuesday, Sept. 22, the same day Pitch Perfect 2 will be released on DVD and Blu-ray. Ten runners-up will win Blu-ray copies of the film.
Pitch Perfect star Anna Kendrick appeared on GMA on Thursday (Sept. 10) to announce the contest and reminisce about filming Pitch Perfect 2 with Robin Roberts, who has a cameo in the sequel. Kendrick also revealed more of what to expect from the third film, in which the actress and co-star Rebel Wilson are both set to reprise their roles, with screenwriter Kay Cannon currently working on the script, Kendrick said.
"I'm really excited about the third one. The second one we had this like window of time to make it, and we were all a little panicked about it. We're going to make the third one the first thing next year I think," she said. "I think everyone is really excited to just do something a little different, just change up the structure of it … something creative."
Roberts also joked that the Pitch Perfect 2 DVD would have a bonus section about her role, with Kendrick adding "We got a lot of good footage."
Despite Roberts' Pitch Perfect 2 cameo, Good Morning America is somewhat of a curious choice to announce such a contest, considering that Pitch Perfect studio Universal's sister network NBC is the home of GMA's rival Today.
Pitch Perfect 3 is set to hit theaters on July 21, 2017. Pitch Perfect 2 has made more than $285 million at the global box-office, with the first installment earning $115.4 million worldwide.
Watch Kendrick announce the contest below, followed by her Dubsmash version of Beyonce's "Run the World (Girls)" and one of the many fan-made videos that Pitch Perfect 3 hopefuls have started to submit.
