Two days after being charged with simple battery for allegedly kicking an 18-year-old woman in the chest at a concert in Florida, Kevin Gates has responded to the reports on record.

No, he's not apologizing for kicking a woman into brief unconsciousness. Instead, he's trying to explain why he did it on a new track called "The Truth."

"All in the news 'bout what happened in Florida," Gates raps, setting the stage. "She grabbed my dick over and yanked it / Two or three times I had already warned her."

Gates claims that part was "edited out" of the video that made its way online and goes on to say, "My children go with me to every performance." How that justifies kicking an 18-year-old fan out cold isn't elaborated on, as he quickly moves on to say, "Let's change the subject."

You can listen to Gates' version of events below. According to Lakeland, Fla., police, the woman Gates kicked is looking to pursue charges against the 29-year-old rapper.
