The Tragically Hip will kick off a U.S. tour Sept. 18 in Detroit. The veteran Canadian rock act will be touring in support of its latest album, "In Between Evolution" (Zoe/Rounder Records).

The group will play 21 dates, wrapping Oct. 16 in Chicago. Members of the band's fan club have had access to tickets since yesterday (Aug. 19), with public sales beginning today and tomorrow for most dates.

In other news, the Hip is taking part in Across the Causeway, a daylong Sept. 12 benefit concert in Kingston, Ontario. The show will also feature Matthew Good, the Hugh Dillon Redemption Choir, the Sadies, James McKenty & the Spades and Chris Koster, and will be hosted by actor Dan Aykroyd.

Proceeds will benefit the Community Foundation of Greater Kingston, the Joe Chithalen Musical Instrument Lending Library and Camp Trillium.

Released in June, "In Between Evolution" was produced by Adam Kasper (Foo Fighters, Queens Of The Stone Age). The set debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Canadian Albums chart and No. 18 on the Top Heatseekers tally.
