Rent lives to see another day -- just in time for the 20th anniversary.

The beloved nineties show that taught us all exactly how many minutes were in a year is returning to New York this fall. Rent originally opened on Broadway in 1996 and ran until 2008. Following that, another production nearly immediately opened off-Broadway, and throughout there have been tons of national and regional tours, as well as a 2005 movie starring many of the Broadway originals.

The new New York production of the Tony-winning hit will open at Long Island City's Secret Theatre on Sept. 23, according to Playbill.

The site also reports that the musical, which won the Pulitzer Prize for drama and originally helped launch the careers of Idina MenzelTaye Diggs, and others, will be directed by Nick Brennan, with musical direction by Andy Peterson and choreography by John de los Santos.
