Nick Jonas was up early on Thursday (Aug. 13) because he had a "ginormous" announcement to make: He has a new single coming Aug. 21, and it will be getting its live debut on the MTV Video Music Awards.

Titled "Levels," Jonas revealed the single and the VMA pre-show performance in a witty Instagram video.

The new track keeps Jonas' trend of one-word singles running, following "Jealous" and "Chains." If "Levels" is anything like its predecessors, it's sure to be a hit -- both songs reached top 20 status on the Hot 100, with "Jealous" breaking the top 10.

"Chains" is up for best male video at the VMAs, so Jonas may be taking home a Moonman after his performance.
