The annual competition, which was created in 2002, “encourages songwriters to create, develop, and challenge their artistry by creating something truly meaningful,” comments Candace Avery, founder and director of the ISC.
Australian singer songwriter Vance Joy won the Grand Prize in the ISC earlier this year for his infectious hit “Riptide,” a win that reaped him $25,000 cash and $30,000 in merchandise and services. Previous winners include Bastille, Gotye. Lindsey Stirling, Kimbra, The Band Perry, Andrew Bird, Passenger, Gin Wigmore, Missy Higgins, King Charles and For King And Country.
