Lee Daniels Responds to 'Empire' Emmys Snub: 'F--- These Motherf---ers'

The hip-hop drama failed to get a nomination for best drama series after its breakout first season.

Empire's outspoken co-creator Lee Daniels took to social media Thursday after his hit Fox series was largely shut out of the 2015 Primetime Emmy Award nominations.

Star Taraji P. Henson was nominated for best lead actress in a drama series, but star Terrence Howard failed to earn a nod for best lead actor, and more shockingly, the hip-hop drama failed to make the cut for best drama after its phenomenal freshman run.

The series earned three nominations total.

After first congratulating his leading lady on her recognition, Daniels and star Jussie Smollett filmed a video for Instagram in which Smollett instructed his boss "to be nice." Daniels, clearly joking, did not heed his advice.

Empire is currently shooting season two in Chicago. The series returns Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 9 p.m. on Fox.
