'Clueless' Musical Is in the Works & We're Buggin'
We're totally buggin'!
Just in time for the 20th anniversary of Clueless next month, writer/director Amy Heckerling has finally confirmed her plans to bring the beloved story of Cher (played by Alicia Silverstone in the film) to Broadway.
"I've written ... what they call 'the book,' and it's a jukebox musical," she told Entertainment Tonight, adding that Kristin Hanggi (Rock of Ages) was signed on to direct and that there's no exact timetable on when people will be able to sing-yell "As If!" right along Cher.
A jukebox musical (meaning already-known tunes as opposed to an original score) could certainly be a fun way to go for Clueless. So many of the songs from the film's soundtrack could be a good starting point, from "Kids in America" by The Muffs to "Rollin' With My Homies" by Coolio.
No word yet on the perfect background music for that awkward moment when you realize you fell in love with your stepbrother, but we're sure they'll figure something out.
