The Grammy winner’s Atlantic debut is set for a July 24 release

With today’s unveiling of the cover art, Jill Scott announces the title and release date for her new album. Woman, the Grammy Award winner’s fifth studio project, is due on July 24 and marks the singer/songwriter’s Atlantic Records debut.

Describing Woman as “classic Philly soul meets country rhythm served with captivating storytelling,” Scott executive produced the album in collaboration with longtime creative colleague Andre Harris (behind her hits “A Long Walk” and “The Way”) and songwriter/producer Aaron Pearce. The forthcoming project is the follow-up to 2011’s The Light of the Sun, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

“Fools Gold,” Woman’s lead single, moves 7-5 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Songs chart for the week dated June 27 -- and gives Scott her 13th top 10 on Adult R&B. Also on the album’s track list is the earlier-released buzz single “You Don’t Know.”

In celebration of Woman and the 15th anniversary of her debut album Who Is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds Vol. 1, Scott launches a headline tour on July 9 in St. Louis. Encompassing more than 25 cities -- including sold-out shows in New York and Baltimore -- the tour wraps on Aug. 28 in Phoenix. In addition, the singer will perform at the inaugural V103 Summer Block Party on July 11 in Chicago. Similar in concept to such annual radio events as the Jingle Ball, the Summer Block Party platform caters to urban AC stations and was developed by Scott in partnership with iHeartMedia and Live Nation.
