A new book detailing life on the road with Paul McCartney during his recent world tour is due next week. "Each One Believing: On Stage, Off Stage and Backstage," published Nov. 1 by Chronicle Books in the United States and Nov. 4 in the U.K., is the realization of an idea McCartney had at the outset of his recent worldwide trek: to take the reader behind the scenes of a major music tour.

The book features reflections by Paul and his wife Heather, his band and his crew, based on transcriptions of filmed interviews during the tour, and from hundreds of press, radio and television interviews. Hundreds of never-before-seen photographs by official tour photographer Bill Bernstein are also featured. McCartney worked closely with art director Caroline Grimshaw to select visual material for the volume.

Included are scenes of the former Beatle learning phrases in various languages to speak at his concerts, and backstage images such as the catering team preparing menus and visiting local supermarkets to buy food for the 30,000 meals made for the band and crew during the itinerary.

There are also photographs of the support acts for the shows, and McCartney and his band winding down backstage after performances. The tour played to an estimated two million people worldwide, making it McCartney's most successful since the days of the Beatles.

As previously reported, McCartney is working on a new studio album. There are rumblings he may tour again in 2005 but no details have been confirmed.
