Ed Sheeran to Headline Global Citizen Festival
Ed Sheeran will be one of many performers headlining the fourth annual Global Citizen Festival when it hits New York City again this fall.
The free ticketed event, which launched in 2012, is part of Global Citizen's 15-year campaign to end extreme poverty by 2030. Admission will be selectively granted to users who take initiative to help the poor by visiting GlobalCitizen.org and participating in a broad range of campaign efforts, including raising awareness through social media, attending charity events and signing petitions.
The festival will return to the Great Lawn of New York's Central Park on Sept. 26, in conjunction with the United Nations General Assembly meeting. The show, which will be produced by Ken Ehrlich, is set to broadcast live on MSNBC.
Sheeran announced the news on his Facebook and Instagram accounts Wednesday morning. Other performers that will be joining the Grammy award-winning artist in this year's lineup will be revealed early July.
