Vampire Weekend bassist Chris Baio took to Twitter on Tuesday morning to announce his debut solo LP, The Names, a nine-track electronic dance album released under his eponymous DJ name Baio. The Names marks Baio’s first project since signing to Glassnote Records as a solo artist last month, though he has been making dance music since his days as a carefree Columbia undergrad.

The announcement was coupled with the release of the album’s opening track, “Brainwash yyrr Face,” featuring trancey dance synths and Baio's own smooth vocals.

New Signings: Baio, Brett Eldredge, Royal Teeth & More

The Names is a record that has reverberated through my mind for much of the last five years. Today I'm delighted to share the first track of a record that I think is pretty tight,” Baio said in a press release.

The Names will be out Sept. 18. Listen to “Brainwash yyrr Face” below.
