Ed Sheeran, The Weeknd Lead Canada's MuchMusic Video Awards Nominations

Ed Sheeran, Shawn Mendes and The Weeknd lead all contenders for the 2015 MuchMusic Video Awards, which unveiled nominations on Wednesday (May 20).

The Weeknd captured six nominations in all, including best video, best pop video and best director, while Mendes earned four nods. Sheeran, who will co-host Canadian TV's block party on June 21 in Toronto, and indie rockers Arcade Fire came away with three nominations each.

The best international artist competition will pit Taylor Swift, Sam Smith, Nick Jonas, Rihanna and Sia against one another. And Sheeran and Sia are both entered in the category for most buzzworthy artist or group, against Fall Out Boy, Iggy Azalea and Jason Derulo.

And the FanFave Artist competition will see Drake and Justin Bieber vie against Mendes and The Weeknd. The 2015 MMVAs will air across Canada on June 21 on the Much channel.

Additional performers and presenters will be announced in the coming weeks.
