Just days after they attended their first awards show as a foursome, One Direction's Liam Payne is reflecting on Zayn Malik's exit.

Payne called into Capital FM in the UK, where he opened up about Malik, who exited from the group back in March. "Yeah, of course! I mean you know, he had to do what he had to do really, for himself," he said. "It's fine. We're just going to carry on doing what we're doing. We wish him all the best with whatever he goes into and stuff. We'll just have to see what happens."

Over the weekend, One Direction attended the 2015 Billboard Music Awards and when they hit the stage to accept their trophy for Top Duo/Group category, Payne made sure not to forget Malik. "There's one more person to share this with," Payne said in the group's acceptance speech, "and that's our brother Zayn."

While speaking with Capital FM, Payne further opened up about Malik's decision to leave 1D. "It's like any other job really... It's like anybody else at a job, sometimes you have to move on because you're not enjoying what you're doing as much as you used to sort of thing," he said. "He wanted to go and spend some time with his family, obviously with his missus. So he's just off doing his thing and that's cool with us. We'll just keep flying the flag and that's all we can do really."
