Elton John has extended his worldwide tour to include a stretch of winery and arena dates across Australia.
The Australia leg to Elton’s All The Hits Tour will start Dec. 5 at the Hope Estate winery, then he'll visit Brisbane, Melbourne, Geelong, Adelaide before wrapping-up Dec. 19 in Sydney.

Elton and Australia have a long history together. The British performer has played 179 concerts across the country since his first show Down Under at Perth’s Subiaco Oval on Oct. 17, 1971. In the years since, he’s played to more than 1.5 million people across the country, and he set the house record at the Qantas Credit Union Arena (formerly Sydney Entertainment Centre) with 45 shows to more-than 475,000 people.

Fittingly, his upcoming tour of these shores will not only end at that venue, it’ll mark the last-ever concert at the Darling Harbour arena before its closed and demolished. Away from the stage, Elton married the sound engineer Renate Blauel in Sydney back in 1984 (the marriage last three years).

“Australia has been one of my favorite countries to tour in ever since my first visit there at the start of my world-wide career in 1971,” Elton says in a statement, noting his drummer on that tour, Nigel Olsson, is still part of his entourage today.

“Some of my most memorable concerts have taken place in venues all across the continent.  The Australian audiences always seem to bring out the best in us, and I am certain there will be many more fantastic evenings when we visit in December.”
