Davey Wavey and Steve Grand

Grand's "All American Boy" album recently debuted at No. 3 on the Independent Albums chart.

Singer/songwriter Steve Grand -- who recently hit the Billboard charts with his debut album All American Boy -- teamed with popular YouTuber Davey Wavey to spoof the media’s fascination with his chiseled physique in a new video.

After a brief introduction, Davey (who is a fitness expert and is usually shirtless in his videos) tells Grand how upset he is about the media’s objectification of him. “I am sick and tired of the way that you’re always exploited and you’re always sexualized in media,” Davey says to a nodding Grand, who dabbled in modeling before his music career took off. “It’s like they’re always parading you around without your shirt on.”

“And you know, I think that we need to show people at home how they parade you… around… without… without your shirt on.”

Long pause.

“You want me to take my shirt off now… here?” Grand asks.

“Yeah, I can help,” Davey suggests, and then starts to unbutton Grand’s shirt, while saying, “I think the whole thing is kind of disgusting.” (Watch the video, below.)

“I’m trying to show people that I can be taken seriously as an artist,” Grand says, as Davey continues to undo buttons. “You know I’ve been doing this for a long time and been writing music since I was 13…”

Things quickly devolve and Davey starts to apply oil to Grand’s chest as the singer volunteers how he was the “No. 3 best selling independent album of the week…” By the end of the video, just as Grand offers to play a song, Davey tells him “we’re out of time.”

Luckily, while Grand didn’t have time to play a tune for Davey Wavey, you can catch him playing The Heroes Gala on June 3 in Washington, D.C.
