Tony Scott ("Man on Fire," "Enemy of the State") is directing the movie, which is based on the true story of model Domino Harvey, who gave up a life in the spotlight to become a bounty hunter.
Waits, who has a small role in the feature as "a wandering soothsayer," admits he took the part because, "They won me in a poker game."
Kiera Knightly ("Pirates of the Caribbean," "Bend It Like Beckham") will portray the title character in "Domino," which also features Mickey Rourke, Christopher Walken, Lucy Liu, Mena Suvari, Jacqueline Bissett and another recording artist, Macy Gray. Currently shooting, the New Line Cinema film is expected in theaters sometime in 2005.
Waits has also reportedly been cast alongside Lyle Lovett and Meryl Streep in Robert Altman's next film, "A Prairie Home Companion," production of which is tentatively scheduled to begin in January. The film is set behind the scenes of Garrison Keilor's popular radio show of the same name.
Altman has previously cast Waits in his 1993 film "Short Cuts" (which also featured Lovett). Among Waits' other credits are 2003's "Coffee and Cigarettes," 1999's "Mystery Men" and 1992's "Bram Stoker's Dracula."

Waits recently wrapped a brief slate of European tour dates in support of "Real Gone." Fans are hopeful that news a North American run is forthcoming, although there has been no confirmation of any plans.
