Exclusive: Ghent Film Festival to Celebrate British Film Music

Music from British films such as Shakespeare in LoveHenry V and Murder on the Orient Express will be celebrated in a concert at Film Fest Gent on Oct. 22 in Ghent, Belgium.

The 42nd edition of the festival will include a concert featuring works by William Walton, John Barry, George Fenton, Michael Nyman and others. Excerpts from Richard III, Henry V, Shakespeare in Love, Far From the Madding Crowd, Murder on the Orient Express, Dangerous Liaisons, Battle of Britain, The Ipcress File and The Knack will be accompanied by clips at the Great British Film Music concert at the Bijloke.

Composers Stephen Warbeck, Patrick Doyle and George Fenton will participate in the event. The festival will have a British focus with 12 to 15 new films; more directors and composers will be confirmed in the coming months.

The festival will also hold the 15th World Soundtrack Awards Ceremony & Concert on Oct. 24, this year celebrating the scores of Alan Silvestri with performances of Back to the Future, Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Forrest Gump by the Brussels Philharmonic and the Flemish Radio Choir.

The 42nd Film Fest Gent will run Oct. 13- 24 in Ghent, Belgium.
