Could it be that Jessica Simpson is ready to go back to her pop star roots?

It sounds like it. Simpson teased that she's been back in the studio after a lengthy absence from the music world.

"Right now, I'm starting a record, and I'm getting into a lot of other fun things," she told Extra."I have a recording studio in my house so I can be around my babies as well and they might try and sing over me. They won't be my background vocalists, they'll be like 'ahhh.' They'll be upfront and personal."

Simpson last released music in 2010 when she dropped the holiday-themed Happy Christmas. That same year she also released a greatest hits album, Playlist: The Very Best of Jessica Simpson. While she made a name for herself in the pop world, as of late Simpson has been focused on her work in the fashion world as a designer.

However, she further said she has no plans to abandon fashion completely for music. "Fashion will always been part of who I am. It literally," she said. "If I'm not wearing a good outfit, I can't sing a good song. It really kind of all works together."
