Morgan Heritage

Morgan Heritage have been putting out classic sounding reggae since 1994, but they've all been an integral part of the Jamaican music scene for far longer. As the children of reggae legend Denroy Morgan, the group has inherited the legacy of his influential music. Now, they look to continue that legacy with their upcoming release Strictly Roots, which will feature appearances by Shaggy, J Boog, Chronixx, and members of SOJA.

Jamaica Moving to Reclaim Global Dominance in Reggae

Also notable is the album's international roster of producers, including Jamaica's Don Chandler, BBC One/BBC 1Xtra's Seani B, American R&B producer Jason "J-Vibe" Farmer and French duo Matthieu Bost and Jeremie "Bim" Dessus.

Morgan Heritage Offers 'More Teachings'

According to the group, "'Perform & Done' is the music video that pushes the envelope for Morgan Heritage lyrically and visually." The romantic song blends roots reggae with some more contemporary dancehall influences, taking the traditionally mellow genre onto the dance floor. Appropriately, the video features an underdog triumphant in a Kingston dance contest -- watch below for a glimpse into the world of Jamaican nightlife.

Strictly Roots will be digitally released Monday, April 20, and physically released the following day. The group will be supporting the album with a tour of the U.S. in April.
