Tame Impala Premieres New Song 'Let It Happen': Listen
Tame Impala has shared the first song from its anticipated third studio album.
The Australian psychedelic rockers announced the release of the track "Let It Happen" with a tweet Wednesday morning (local time) to its 177,000 followers. It's an uptempo, almost club-friendly piece, with a pop hook. Perhaps frontman Kevin Parker absorbed some funky new ideas from his time working with Mark Ronson on the song "Daffodils".

"Let It Happen" captures the elements that made Tame Impala one of the hottest emerging bands in recent years: trippy vocals, a neat groove (Parker's talents extend to drumming) and an epic running time of nearly 8 minutes.
Tame Impala's fans had been expecting new music. The Perth-based act's management firm, Spinning Top, confirmed in January that a new album would drop sometime this year. A spokesperson told Billboard at the time, "The album is still a work in progress and we have no official release date, however it will be released in 2015."
The track is available as a free download from the Tame Impala website, and can be streamed below.
The as-yet untitled album will be the follow-up to Tame Impala's all-conquering 2012 sophomore album Lonerism, which cleaned up pretty-much every award on offer. The set earned "album of the year" nods from NME, FasterLouder and Street Press Australia, and high rankings in year-end lists for The Guardian, The Sunday Times, Uncut, MOJO, Clash, BBC Music and Spin. Lonerism was named record of the year at the inaugural Record Store Day Adapter Prize and claimed Triple J's J Award -- meaning Tame Impala are the only artist to have won the latter honor twice (debut Innerspeaker won in 2010). The group also dominated the 2013 ARIA Awards, winning for best group, best album and best rock album.
Tame Impala will hit the road next month for a trans-Atlantic tour that will include U.S. shows at Coachella and the Governors Ball, England's Bestival, Ireland's Electric Picnic and Germany's Lollapalooza.
