As Death Cab for Cutie gears up for the March 31 release of its new album Kintsugi, the band has released a new song called "The Ghosts of Beverly Drive" to tease the forthcoming set.

Listen to it here:

Kintsugi will be Death Cab's first release since 2011's Codes and Keys and eighth overall. It's the band's first project without founding guitarist-producer Chris Walla, who left the group last August.

"The Ghosts of Beverly Drive" is a moving number from the band that's no stranger to literary lyrics, as frontman Ben Gibbard leads listeners along a winding metaphor propped up by lush production.

Gibbard told NME, who premiered the track, that he hopes Death Cab for Cutie's past albums will not color listeners' judgment of this new album too much. He said, "I completely respect and understand why people love Transatlanticism or We Have The Facts… or Narrow Stairs and I would hope that as we move forward, people listen with as little prejudice as they can and try to hear the music for what it is and not what they want it to be."

In January the band released "Black Sun," Kintsugi's first single, and announced spring tour dates in support.
