A Visual History of Creatures at No. 1 on the Billboard 200: Imagine Dragons, Modest Mouse & More

Imagine Dragons currently sit at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 thanks to their second album, Smoke + Mirrors. With the dragons perched atop the album chart, we got to thinking about other animals, insects, sea life and fictional creatures to take the top spot on the Billboard 200.

Check out our Brief History of Creatures at No.1 on the Billboard 200 above. The list goes from 1990 until Feb. 22, 2015.

The first thing you might notice is that we've taken a little creative license with a few of these. While the Beatles were definitely named with a beat music/beetle pun in mind, the Dixie Chicks probably didn't come up with that moniker while thinking of just-hatched chickens. Nevertheless, we're including them (and their album Fly, which is probably meant as a verb and not a noun).

We're also including artists with creature-themed album titles: LL Cool J's G.O.A.T. (Greatest of All Time), Mariah Carey's Butterfly and the double-dose of Tha Dogg Pound's Dogg Food.
