Watch Hiatus Kaiyote Play Gorillaz' 'Dare' Like You Never Imagined It

Grammy-nominated "future soul" group Hiatus Kaiyote has turned-in a mint-fresh cover of the Gorillaz hit "Dare" for Australian radio.

The Melbourne group's unique take on the 2005 song was recorded for the Triple J network's Like A Version segment, where local and international artists get to perform live versions of their favorite songs.

The four-piece band -- Nai Palm (vocals/guitar), Paul Bender (bass), Perrin Moss (drums/percussion) and Simon Mavin (keyboards) -- are set to return with their sophomore album Choose Your Weapon, which is due May 5 via Flying Buddha/Sony Music Masterworks.

It's the follow-up to their 2013 debut album Tawk Tomahawk, which was nominated for a best R&B performance Grammy (for the song "Nakamarra") and earned kudos from the likes of Questlove, Erykah Badu, Pharrell Williams and Prince.

The original Gorillaz track, which reached No. 1 in the U.K., featured guest vocals from Happy Mondays frontman Shaun Ryder and lead vocals from Damon Albarn. Right now, Albarn just can't stay out of the news. The multi-talented British musician has just announced his other group Blur will release a new album The Magic Whip on April 27. The first of many expected live shows has been announced for London's Hyde Park on June 20. New Gorillaz material could also be coming soon. Albarn's Gorillaz co-creator and the band's comic artist Jamie Hewlett has revealed new artwork of the group's fictional members, suggesting a comeback is on the cards.
