The red 1965 Mosrite Ventures V1 guitar is signed on the body in black marker, "Best always, Johnny Ramone, 5/22/90." According to the auction house, it was used by the Ramones guitarist for at least seven years from circa 1982–83 until he sold it in 1990.

"One of just nine Mosrite guitars owned by Johnny Ramone known to exist – it is not surprising that it was able to achieve such an impressive figure," RR Auction Executive VP Bobby Livingston said in a statement, via Rolling Stone

The auction notes that the guitar features several modifications made by Ramone, including the replacement of the tremolo system with a stop bar tailpiece and installation of a DiMarzio FS-1 bridge pickup, as well as a tortoiseshell pick guard. It states this was Ramone's favorite guitar for TV appearances. The guitar can be seen in this MTV performance from 1988:

The guitar was apparently sold to Ramone's friend and former Ramones band driver Gene Frawley, a subsequent owner later personally confirmed the ownership details with Ramone. It was sold with its original hardshell case, with all the existing nicks, dings and duct tape residue from Ramone's guitar strap on the body.

A number of Ramones items have been auctioned off over the past years, including in 2013 Joey Ramone's record collection and clothes.
