Johnathan Rice, Anne Hathaway and Jenny Lewis attend the L.A. Times' Indie Focus Screening Series for Song One at Sundance Cinema on Jan. 13, 2015 in Los Angeles, California.

Song One, starring Anne Hathaway and opening in theaters and on-demand Jan. 23, is a romantic drama set in Brooklyn's modern-folk music scene.

The film features original compositions by Jenny Lewis and Johnathan Rice who were given the task of creating an album that was a cult classic. Johnny Flynn portrays the singer-songwriter who recorded the album then had a lengthy bout with writer's block.

How Anne Hathaway & Jenny Lewis Built Johnny Flynn's Musical Identity in 'Song One'

Rice and Lewis wrote 11 songs for Song One, seven of which are in the film. Once the demos were handed over to Flynn, he would create his own arrangement.

"Little Yellow Dress," which receives its exclusive premiere on Billboard, was one Flynn changed. "When Jenny and I did it, it was much more upbeat," Rice said at the 2014 Sundance Film festival. "I like where he took the song."

The film also features performances from Sharon Van Etten, the Felice Brothers, Dan Deacon, Paul Whitty, Naomi Shelton & the Gospel Queens, Cass Dillon and Elizabeth Ziman.
