Scott Weiland is back with a new band, and Billboard is excited to premiere a song of their first album. It's a gritty, hammering bulldozer of a song called "White Lightning."

Scott Weiland will release Blaster -- his first album with new band the Wildabouts -- on March 31 via Softdrive Records. The former Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver frontman tells Billboard this early sampling was inspired by the Prohibition Era.

"It's a musical homage to the film Lawless… moonshine, jalopies… the whole scene," Weiland says. "It's got a sludgy, bluesy stomp from start to finish yet there are ethereal elements that take you on a journey. The riff has been in the back of my head for a long time, but when I wrote the lyrics I had just watched the film, it was on my mind, and the words just naturally flowed with the overall tone of the song."

Weiland has focused on solo work in recent years, having released A Compilation of Scott Weiland Cover Songs and the holiday album, The Most Wonderful Time of the Year, in 2011.

Beginning Feb. 22, Weiland will head out on tour with the Wildabouts to promote Blaster. The tour starts at Scottsdale, Ariz.'s Pub Rock and wraps March 14 in Boston, before heading out to the United Kingdom and back to the States for a few spring dates.
