Lifehouse will release its self-titled third album March 22 via Geffen.Lifehouse will release its self-titled third album March 22 via Geffen. First single "You and Me" has begun making a splash at U.S. Adult Top 40 radio stations and is currently the No. 2 most downloaded track at Apple's iTunes Music Store.
"Lifehouse" was produced by John Alagia (Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer), who contributes bass, guitar, ukulele and Hammond B3 organ to a number of tracks. Since the recording, Lifehouse has been bolstered by bassist Bryce Soderberg, formerly of A.M. Radio, who will join the band on upcoming tour dates.
"John helped us not over-think it," frontman Jason Wade says. "Because of that, this is the best representation of what we do when we're just being ourselves. We love the way this record sounds. It's fat and full, but it's not cluttered; you can hear all the instruments."
"Lifehouse" is the follow-up to 2002's "Stanley Climbfall," which debuted at No. 7 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 373,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The band remains best known for its breakthrough single, "Hanging by a Moment," which clocked in at No. 1 on the Billboard's 2001 year-end Hot 100 chart.
Wade promises "Lifehouse" is loaded with "the kind of music I like to write. That's one of the great things about having done a couple of records: I don't second-guess myself anymore. When I'm writing, I'm not trying to please everyone. My first question is: Do I like it?"
Lifehouse has begun a run of promotional appearances at U.S. radio stations, including three today (Feb. 1) in Salt Lake City, Utah. The group will also drop by Dallas' KDMX on Thursday.
