Exclusive: Modern Baseball Premieres New Jam 'Alpha Kappa Fall of Troy Part Deux'
A year after their fantastic sophomore album You're Gonna Miss It All, Philly rockers Modern Baseball keep chugging along.
As half od the band's songwriting team with Brendan Lukens, Jacob Ewald has no shortage of wry collegiate twenty-something narratives, and he's poured it into a bite-size sample of what Modern Baseball does best in a new song called "Alpha Kappa Fall of Troy The Movie Part Deux." The track is from a forthcoming six-way split on Philadelphia's Lame-O Records. Check it out below, premiering exclusively via Billboard:
"Is home where you lay your head or where your fake swordfish is mounted?" the Drexel student wonders in this latest installment of energetic, hyper-lyrical indie rock. Whether it's drinking coffee or drinking something else alone, whether you call it pop-punk or emo revival or whatever else, the Modern Baseball formula stays winning. Instrumentally, the band keeps up, flashing some nice guitar harmonics over straight-ahead, driving drum and bass.
The band details the new song in the video below. Watch them struggle to say the title with a straight face, and then link it to the film Troy and the Menzingers song "Alpha Kappa Fall Off A Balcony."
The six-way split, titled Strength in Weakness, drops Feb. 3. It's a benefit for United Cerebral Palsy and is up for pre-order digitally and physically. Check out the track listing:
