They’re at different stages of their career, and arguably worlds apart. Though Courtney Barnett and Evan Dando proved at a recent show in Melbourne that they get on famously when there’s a mic and acoustic guitar between them.

Barnett, the fast-rising Aussie singer, dueted with the Lemonheads frontman on “Being Around,” a fan-favorite from his 1993 album Come On Feel the Lemonheads (the quirky track also appeared as the B-side to the band’s commercial breakthrough, its cover of Simon & Garfunkel’s “Mrs. Robinson”).

They’re something of an odd couple, though their music is shaped by their own salt-of-the-earth songwriting styles. It was Barnett who sang, “I was never good at smoking bongs” in "Avant Gardener," while Dando wrote an ode to his “Drug Buddy” (and wrote “If I Could Talk I’d Tell You” when he’d reportedly lost his voice due to crack abuse).

The Lemonheads are currently touring Australia and New Zealand. Barnett’s debut album is slated for release in 2015. The pair teamed-up on stage at Melbourne’s 850-capacity Corner Hotel. Watch the clip below.
