Jesse Tyler Ferguson was ready to shake it off at this weekend's Trevor Project benefit concert in Los Angeles.

"I know what you're thinking: Why is a 39-year-old gay man singing Taylor Swift? It's making me uncomfortable," Ferguson joked at the beginning of his performance, before going on to discuss the challenges he faced as a young man in his 1989 (the year, not the pop album).

His Modern Family co-star (slash Swift friend) Sarah Hyland uploaded an Instagram video snippet on the performance, writing, "Two of my favorite people coming together.@jessetyler singing @taylorswift at #Trevorlive tonight. So funny!!! Killed it my fake uncle #shakeitoff."

Swift, for her part, definitely approved of the cover. "YES YES YES THIS," she wrote on Twitter, along with a link to Hyland's Instagram.
