Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain Kissed Dave Grohl After Hearing Foo Fighters Demo
Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain was pretty excited after hearing some early Foo Fighters demos, Dave Grohl recently revealed in an episode of HBO’s Sonic Highways.
Cobain gave Grohl a kiss after listening to the early Foo Fighters song “Alone + Easy Target” while Nirvana was on tour in 1992, Consequence of Sound reports. The track later appeared on the Foo Fighters 1995 self-titled debut.
"Kurt heard that and kissed me on the face, as he was in a bath," Grohl said. "He was so excited. He was like, 'I heard you recorded some stuff with Barrett [Jones].' I was like, 'Yeah.' He was like, 'Let me hear it.' I was too afraid to be in the same room as he listened to it."
HBO’s Sonic Highways, which premiered on Oct. 17, is an eight-episode series chronicling the road-trippin' creation of the album of the same title. The latest episode focused on the musical history of Seattle.
Sonic Highways the album recently started at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, marking the Foo Fighters' seventh top 10.
