Death Grips fans who purchased the now-defunct duo’s vinyl release of 2013’s Government Plates on Black Friday may have noticed an unlikely name within the album’s newly added liner notes: Robert Pattinson.

The Twilight actor apparently played guitar on the Government Plates track “Birds,” Pitchfork reports. Death Grips drummer Zach Hill reportedly recorded Pattinson's guitar with his iPhone and sampled that recording on “Birds,” which is available for listening below. The actor was spotted in a photo with Death Grips’ MC Ride (and Beyonce) last year.

Pattinson has noted that his passion for music started at an early age. Earlier this year he stopped by Late Night to tell Seth Meyers he’d always dreamt of being a rapper. And though nothing has seen the light of day, the actor contributed vocals to two songs that appeared on the original Twilight soundtrack, "Never Think" and "Let Me Sign.” He’s also dating musical artist FKA Twigs.

It’s not likely that Pattinson will be collaborating with Death Grips again, however. In July, the band announced that it had broken up. Death Grips says it still plans to release a new double-album, The Powers That B, through Harvest/Third Worlds Records. A release date has not been set.
