"XIAT," written by Trevor and produced by Bobby Frausto, is the second single from the upcoming EP, due Dec. 9 (pre-order is available on iTunes now).
"This record is so important to me," Trevor said about the single. "You learn about my troubles and how I get through them. Anxiety sucks, but you've just got to pull through it. If I can, you can."
The EP's first single, "Echo," already has a music video, which was so popular among fans that the track reached No. 1 on the Billboard + Twitter Trending 140 chart after being mentioned more than 87,000 times by his fans on Twitter on Oct. 29.
Billboard caught up with Moran to ask him a few questions about the EP and Our2ndLife (or O2L), the YouTube supergroup he's a part of.
Why did you choose Nicki Minaj and will.i.am's "Check It Out" for your first viral video in the Apple store?
At the time, "Check It Out" was my favorite song. I didn't expect it to get so big though!
You've got a huge following online. Besides dancing inside Apple stores, how would you describe what you post online?
I post music of mine, music videos of mine, comedy videos, vlogs and covers.
Who is your typical Trevor Moran fan? They shared the music video for "Echo" so much that it topped our Realtime Twitter charts.
Typical fan would be a teen girl. I love you all! And that is so awesome that it hit No. 1!
Tell us more about this latest single from your upcoming EP, XIAT. And what should we expect from the rest of the EP?
"XIAT" is about my struggles with anxiety, it's one of my most personal songs ever. What you should expect on the rest of the EP is... variety.
About Our2ndLife. When did it start? What is its mission? What's your role within the group?
Our2ndLife started in August 2012 after we all met up at the annual YouTube convention VidCon. We instantly became best friends and decided to collaborate. We wanted to make a YouTube channel that was different from others. We each have our own day of the week and there are weekly themes. We never expected it to get as big as it did. We are just crazy kids that love to make videos and make people laugh. My day of the week is Friday. I love being part of this amazing group of guys, we have so much fun together. This past June we went on a sold-out tour across the country. It was a variety show and I was lucky to perform my music every night. The guys are very supportive of my music and have always been there for me.
