Duo's collaborations include Flo Rida, Justin Bieber, Jason Derulo
Grammy Award-winning duo the Jackie Boyz has signed a worldwide publishing joint venture with Razor & Tie Music Publishing, focused on signing and developing new songwriters and producers. Comprised of brothers Carlos and Steven Battey, the Los Angeles-based Jackie Boyz team is managed by industry veteran Iain Pirie.
Since notching their first hit single with Flo Rida’s 2009 track “Sugar” featuring Wynter Gordon, the Jackie Boyz have collaborated with Jason Derulo, Justin Bieber, David Guetta, Sean Kingston and Big Time Rush. The pair picked up their first Grammy for best remixed recording, non-classical at the 53rd annual awards ceremony for their contribution to Guetta’s “One Love” club mix of Madonna’s “Revolver.” Their additional hit singles include Bieber/Kingston’s “Eenie Meenie,” Pee Wee’s “Make the Lights Go” and the Sugababes’ “Wear My Kiss.” Carlos Battey also provides the singing voice of Bobby Brown in director Angela Bassett’s 2015 Whitney Houston biopic for Lifetime.
Razor & Tie Music Publishing’s catalog includes such multi-platinum hits as Phillip Phillips’ “Home,” co-written by Greg Holden, and Blake Shelton’s “God Gave Me You,” written by Dave Barnes. In a statement announcing the Jackie Boyz signing, Razor & Tie VP Creative Andrea Torchia says, “Carlos and Steven are both skillful songwriter/producers and have proven themselves to be strong identifiers of young talent—a perfect combination.”
