Gregg Alexander to Perform 'Begin Again' Song at Hollywood Music in Media Awards

Music from the films Begin Again and Birdman and the Netflix series Orange is the New Black will be performed at the Hollywood Music in Media Awards on Nov. 4 at the Fonda Theater in Hollywood.

Gregg Alexander, who composed the score and songs for Begin Again, will perform “Lost Stars,” a song performed by Keira Knightley and Adam Levine in the film. It will be Alexander’s first public performance in 15 years.

Jazz drummer Antonio Sanchez, currently a member of Pat Metheny’s band, will perform a section of his percussion score to Birdman. The trio of Gwendolyn Sanford, Brandon Jay and Scott Doherty will perform their original music from Orange is the New Black Music.

The Hollywood Music in Media Awards honors music used in visual media and the composers, music supervisors and songwriters who create, produce and place compositions in various films, TV shows and ads.

Presenters at the 2014 HMMAs include Emmy-nominated music director/producer/composer Rickey Minor and Oscar nominated singer-songwriter Stephen BishopMinor, the bandleader and bassist, will discuss the importance of music education in schools and introduce Education Through Music – Los Angeles, which receives a portion of the event’s proceeds. Hosts include Oscar nominated actor and star of Inherent Vice actor Eric Roberts, musician Adam Gaynor, filmmaker Andy Fickman and Earth, Wind & Fire’s Verdine White.
