Listening to music on Twitter's iOS and Android apps just got easier. On Thursday (Oct. 16), the social media company introduced a new product, the Twitter audio card, which enables audio streaming within the Twitter app. The audio card will be powered through partnerships with third-party streaming services.
The first, and to date the only, audio card partner is SoundCloud, the streaming company that was reported to be a Twitter acquisition target back in May. When a partner shares a SoundCloud link on Twitter, the link is rendered as a rectangular audio card on the screen. A Twitter user need only tap once on the timeline to reveal the expanded audio card and listen to the audio. To continue browsing while listening to the selected audio, the Twitter user can "dock" the audio card with a single swipe.
