Kerry Washington on "Scandal" on October 9, 2014.

Still reeling from Shonda Rhimes Thursday night television? Duh.

That's why we're reliving the best music moments from Thursday night (Oct. 9). Check out our picks for Grey's Anatomy and Scandal (How To Get Away With Murder, disappointingly, stuck with straight techno for its montage) below.

Grey's Anatomy

"You Should Know Where I’m Coming From," Banks

Banks’ “Waiting Game” plays a critical part in Thursday's episode -- the song underscores the moment when Bailey (Chandra Wilson) and Alex (Justin Chambers) wait for the decision on which of them will join the board of Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital. But it’s the melancholy “You Should Know Where I’m Coming From” that resonates as the emotional heart of the hour. The tune plays as Owen (Kevin McKidd) laments the loss of Cristina (Sandra Oh) to Callie (Sara Ramirez). As Banks croons, “You oughta know where I’m coming from,” Owen pours his heart out as part of an apology to Callie for berating her when she told him she couldn’t fix the leg of an Iraq veteran. Poor Owen, he just misses Cristina and needs something to go right in his life. - Denise Warner

"What's Going On," Marvin Gaye

Gaye's hit underscored a montage about three-quarters of the way through another drama-packed episode where no one is getting what they want: Olivia (Kerry Washington) and Jake's (Scott Foley) relationship is on the fritz after a disaster of a dinner with her father, while Mellie (Bellmay Young) is still deep in grief over the death of her son. David (Joshua Malina) is finally the Attorney General -- but his blackmail may be responsible for a judge's death. Just another day in the office for the Gladiators and White House crew!

What high-emotion songs do you hope show up this season with Olivia Pope, Meredith Grey and Co.?
