We were fans from the very first Journey cover.

Fall TV is in full swing, and while we've managed to welcome back plenty of returning hits (Hi, Scandal and The Voice!), there's one television show that is sadly not going to be giving fans Broadway-pop karaoke covers of popular tunes anytime soon: I'm talking about Glee, and it is nowhere to be found on my fall schedule. It won't return until 2015 for a shortened final season.

While part of my brain fully knows this is for the best -- listen, we all know that show is sort of scraping the bottom of the barrel these days -- I still got used to hearing a few new cheerful covers each week to add to a workday playlist.

'Glee' Cast Notches 200th Hit on Hot 100

In honor of Throwback Thursday, let's look back at the best of Glee by counting down the top 20 musical performances during the show's exciting first season. The songs are ranked not just on their technicaly musicality (come on; this is Glee), but on overall performance. If they did a full dance in the choir room, that automatically ups the score. From all-star group numbers to Lea Michele powerhouse solo performances, it's all here. (Well, almost. Darren Criss is missing; he didn't join the show until the second season -- clearly the best decision Glee ever made.)

"Don't Stop Believin'," a Journey medley and even a showstopper or two by Amber Riley -- travel back to 2008 and relive them all below.

20. "Take a Bow"

19. "The Safety Dance"

18. "My Life Would Suck Without You"

17. "Hate On Me"

16. "I'll Stand By You"

What season 1 tune do you think deserved to go all the way to Nationals?
