Ed Sheeran -- singer-songwriter, occasional rapper and Taylor Swift BFF -- has finally learned to dance. And he wants the whole world to know.

And when Sheeran says dance, he's talking dance in an old-school sense, the kind that requires guys to look dapper in a vest while executing twirls and lifts. Watch him display his new moves below in the "Thinking Out Loud" video.

Sheeran released his album x in June. The song on x that's most likely to get the average listener moving is "Sing," produced by Pharrell. But Sheeran throws a curveball with this one, unveiling his hard-won new abilities over a slower number that's heavily-indebted to classic soul.

Ed Sheeran, 'x': Track-By-Track Review

The singer told MTV he practiced "five hours a day" to get ready for the shoot. The action takes place in a big, empty room surrounded by gold chandeliers. Sheeran worked hard in preparation for the video, but his dance partner may be the real star here -- his role mostly consists of dancing in place while she weaves circles around him. She also does a no-hands cartwheel. At one point, Sheeran plays air guitar on her leg.

Don't expect Sheeran to dance on the regular -- he also told MTV that this is "the best video I’ve ever done and probably ever will do." But once an artist tastes the joys of dancing, it's hard to go back.
