Maroon 5 pose with Saturday Night Live host Sarah Silverman on October 2, 2014.

Maroon 5 was the musical guest on Saturday Night Live Saturday (Oct. 4) night, and the band played their current hits -- "Animals" and "Maps" -- on the program.

While the show, hosted by Sarah Silverman, didn’t joke about the controversy surrounding the video for the band’s latest single, in addition to the music, Adam Levine showed up in two sketches, playing both Freddie Mercury and, more amusingly, himself ("Why is Adam Levine here?"). Check out the highlight clips below.

Levine should definitely consider an on-call "She Will Be Loved" singing telegram service.
