Hyperdub's The Spaceape Has Died

Stephen Samuel Gordon, aka the Spaceape, died Thursday (Oct. 2), according to his label, Hyperdub.

"He passed away peacefully after a 5 year struggle with a rare form of cancer," a press release from the London-based record label said. "He leaves behind his wife Luciana and 6 year old daughter, Cleo. Our sincere condolences go out to his family and friends, and all who have been touched by his writings and performances. His Hyperdub family will always miss him."

The electronic/dub vocalist collaborated with the Bug, Martyn, Junior Boys, Jerry Dammers, Redshape, Dub Gabriel, the Echologist and others. He frequently worked with Hyperdub founder Steve Goodman, aka Kode9. The two recently released their collaborative EP, Killing Season, which includes "The Devil Is a Liar" (watch below). The video was filmed in July.
