Jon Stewart Responds to 'Vicious' One Direction Fans

The Daily Show has responded -- briefly -- to One Direction fans following outcry over a Daily Show segment last week that jokingly mentioned 1D among a bunch of terrorist groups. One Direction fans subsequently demonstrated their total control on social media, trending #TheDailyShowGoneTooFar all day Friday.

Monday night -- the next new show -- Jon Stewart didn't devote a whole segment to the online controversy, but while commenting on President Obama's UN speech about climate change,  Stewart took a guess at what Obama said was the issue most influential in our world: "The terrifying enthusiasm of One Direction fans?" (Actual answer: Climate change.)

"I had to log off my own Instagram," Stewart joked about the backlash. "They're vicious!" He then pointed out that if One Direction fans mobilized about climate change, the issue would be solved like that.

With that said, Stewart had a joking final word for 1D fans: "I heard Harry's headed out to sea on an ice cap!"
