Justin Timberlake is in discussions to co-star with Samuel L. Jackson and Christina Ricci in "Black Snake Moan," from writer/director Craig Brewer, the man behind the upcoming acclaimed release "Hustle & Flow."

The Paramount Classics film, whose title comes from a 1920s blues record by Blind Lemon Jefferson, would star Jackson as a blues guitarist abandoned by his wife. He tries to redeem the soul of a girl (Ricci) addicted to sex in a rural town. Timberlake would play Ricci's boyfriend.

The film, budgeted at about $13 million, is set to begin shooting in September in Memphis, Timberlake's hometown.

"Hustle & Flow," the dramatic Audience Award winner at this year's Sundance Film Festival, will be released July 13 by Paramount Classics and corporate sibling MTV Films. As previously reported, a hip-hop heavy soundtrack will be released the day before via Atlantic.
