Seth Meyers, host of the 2014 Emmy Awards.

Host Seth Meyers & presenter Jimmy Kimmel crack jokes about Beyonce, Justin Bieber & more.

While Sunday night was about music with the VMAs and Monday night (Aug. 25) is all about TV with the Emmys, sometimes the two worlds blend together.

Lena Dunham's Emmy Dress Is Very fun.

Take first-time host Seth Meyers' monologue, for instance. He deployed no less than three music jokes in the show's first 10 minutes, including one about that other awards show. So where else was music mentioned? Check it out below:

-Seth Meyers on the Emmys date change: "We're doing the show on Monday in part because MTV aired their Video Music Awards last night. That's right: MTV still has an awards show for music videos even though they no longer show music videos. That's like network TV holding an awards show and giving all the trophies to cable and Netflix. That would be crazy. Why would they do that?"

-Seth Meyers on younger competition: "Streaming made a huge impact this year, with Netflix getting nominated for 31 Emmys, and no one is happier to see streaming services take nominations away from cable than network television. Not very nice when someone younger comes along, is it, cable? Cable is looking at Netflix the way Justin Bieber looks at One Direction -- through a cloud of marijuana smoke."

-Seth Meyers introducing presenter Amy Poehler: "Our first presenter asked to write her own introduction, so please welcome my beautiful, amazing and talented friend, Beyonce."

-Jimmy Kimmel to the highly awarded Matthew McConaughey: "Should we give you the BET Award for best male hip-hop artist while we're at it?"
