4. MARIAH CAREY & NICK CANNON Since beginning his career on Nickelodeon, Nick Cannon has forged a successful (if sporadic) musical career, highlighted by his 2003 self-titled solo debut. However, the 31-year-old's sales cannot hold a candle to that of his 42-year-old wife, Mariah Carey, who has spent over two decades pushing the boundaries of mainstream R&B and looks to do so again with her upcoming studio effort. The happy couple has moved a combined 53.6 million copies.

Say it ain't so!

After some rumors began floating around that Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon would be divorcing in the next few weeks, Cannon himself confirmed that things are not great right now in his personal life. "There is trouble in paradise…we have been living in separate houses for a few months," Cannon told The Insider. "...My main focus is my kids."

Carey and Cannon, who have a 12-year age difference, were married in 2008; Dem babies, Moroccan and Monroe, were born in 2011.

It's been reported that the pair separated back in May. They've been quietly working out a property settlement and custody agreement over their twins, according to TMZ.com. The gossip website reported that Mariah was “humiliated” when Nick name-checked five celebrities he had slept with during an interview on Power 106 radio back in March. Kim Kardashian was reportedly on that list.

As recently as Tuesday Aug. 19, Cannon seemed unfazed by mention of his wife. That night, during a taping of America's Got Talent in New York City, judge Howard Stern brought up Carey after Cannon asked about the pressure performing acts were under. Said Stern: "Remember when you married Mariah and the pressure you were under? Multiply that…" According to an eyewitness, "Nick played it off like all was well."

Update, Friday, Aug. 22: A rep for Carey told Us Weekly "I don't comment on Mariah's personal life, but Mariah is focusing on her children and her upcoming tour." A rep for the singer told Billboard there was no further comment.
