5 Seconds of Summer Heading for No. 1 on Billboard 200 Chart

Self-titled debut expected to sell 250,000 copies

Australian pop/rock band 5 Seconds of Summer is on course for a No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200 chart next week.

Industry sources forecast the quartet's self-titled debut full-length album to sell perhaps 250,000 copies in the week ending July 27. The set was released on July 22, and follows the group's EP, the No. 2-peaking "She Looks So Perfect."

The Billboard 200's new top 10 will be revealed on Wednesday, July 30.

A launch of 250,000 for the new album would secure 2014's third-largest debut and fourth-biggest sales week. Coldplay's "Ghost Stories" debuted with the year's largest week, 383,000 (according to Nielsen SoundScan), while Eric Church's "The Outsiders" has 2014's second-biggest frame, thanks to its launch of 288,000. The "Frozen" soundtrack has the year's third-biggest week, when it shifted 259,000 in the week ending April 20.

After 5 Seconds of Summer, the next highest debut on the Billboard 200 will likely come from Common's new album, "Nobody's Smiling," with around 20,000.
